PHILHEALTH and PITC aims to get 1st win at UNTV Cup

PhilHealth Plus and Global PITC Traders will seek to bounce back as they face each other in the 2nd game on Sunday's UNTV Cup Season 8 weekly triple-header.

According to PhilHealth Plus head coach Delio Aseron, it’s going to be a tough task to beat PITC. And they will play without their injured players Jervi Glorioso and Mark Eduard Pedroso.

“Ang PITC is a very talented team. We really have to double time. Kailangan maiayos namin yung depensa, kailangan maiayos ko rin yung rotation, and hopefully mag-click yung outside shooting namin and try to capitalize ng speed ng players natin at extra-hustle,” (PITC Global Traders is a very talented team. We really have to double time. We need to polish our defense, our player rotation and hopefully, our outside shooting will work. We will also capitalize on our players’ speed and extra-hustle.) Coach Aseron said.

Last Sunday, PhilHealth lost to three-time champs AFP Cavaliers, 91-80.

Meanwhile, the PITC basketball team will come from a 3-week rest and practice since they succumbed to AFP in the opening game of UNTV Cup Season 8 last September 9 at MOA Arena 90-70.

PITC Head Coach Vic Ycasiano has said earlier that they did not expect to be drawn to face the defending champion and their other players were not in ready condition.

“Yung mismong main guy namin si Porto, injured eh, so hindi na namin pinuwersa. Si Vassallo kakabalik lang galing injury. Tapos talagang off pa kami. Ilang beses pa lang kami nakakapag ensayo… we have to be given some time para maka-recover from everything, makapag-ensayo kami maayos… sigurado exciting ball game kapag kami naglaro,” (Our main guy, Haddi Porto were injured, so we didn’t force him to play. Rod Vassallo came from injury. We’re still out of shape [when we fought AFP]. We only have practiced a couple of times. We have to be given some time to recover from everything, to practice thoroughly. I can assure of an exciting game when we play.Coach Vic Ycasiano said.

Also on Sunday, Judiciary Magis and GSIS Furies face off at 2 PM while NHA Builders vs Malacañang-PSC Kamao is set at 5:30 PM.
